I Miss Schoolhouse Rock
Pardon the appearance of” this post. I’m writing on my phone because the internet is down.
I don’t know about you but to me lately it seems most people didn’t finish high school. I’m damn certain most of their minds didn’t mature past 6th grade.
I know some of you don’t require this little lesson so please bear with me. For those who flunked English class or were confused when looking up words in a dictionary for Vocabulary or Spelling classes here’s today’s. WORD OF THE DAY
MISTRESS: Of equivalent to Master
From the Random House Dictionary we see this word is a Noun (see video above)
And it has several meanings. They are, in order that they appear in this dictionary;
1- a woman who has authority power or control, especially the female head of household, institution or other establishment
2- a woman employing or in authority over servants or attendants
3- the female owner of an animal
4- a woman who has the power or controlling authority to dispose something at her own pleasure
5- something regarded as feminine that has control or supremacy
6- a woman skilled in an art or occupation
7- a woman who has a continuing extramarital sexual relationship with one man, especially a man who, in turn for an exclusive sexual liaison, provides for her continuing financial support
8- a female schoolteacher
9- a term of address in correspondence ie Mrs.
10- sweetheart
The thought that arrives first in childish minds actually comes in at #7 and is only one meaning far removed from the other nine.
So therefore, the term Web Mistress means; a female web master. You know, a female who programs, designs, and/or creates a web site.
So now that’s cleared up, perhaps those who required this little lesson could haul themselves out of the gutter long enough to discover their nearest library. There’s a whole world of words out there just waiting for all of you to comprehend them.
