Enchanted Times Blog Hop
I’m so glad you came to visit with me today!
While I have your attention for a moment, and as we get ready to head into winter’s chill, I’d like to introduce you to Ares God of War. He’s the biggest, baddest, and definitely hottest Warrior the world has ever known. If you give him a chance I’m positive he’ll steam up the cold night ahead. If you’re frightened, don’t worry, he won’t bite…not too hard anyway.😉
From the Novel The Heart of War: The two Gods charged at each other like the Wild Beasts they were. Both with heads down, shoulders back, but here Cernunnos had a distinct advantage with those antlers, or so he thought. Running at each full speed, Ares kept his eyes focused closely upon his adversary, knowing that just before the two of them met head-on, Cernunnos would bow his head a little further before he brought it up with great force, hoping to rip flesh from bone. He intended to cut off Cernunnos’ head but he misjudged the swiftness the Half-Stag possessed and by the time Ares swung with the blade, Cernunnos was already on the upward swing. Ares sword sliced through the Great Horned Gods antlers, severing many of them and leaving them smoking on the stone floor.
Cernunnos stood up his full height while his hooves trotted in place; he threw back his head and let out a cry of pain and anguish at the loss of his majestic antlers. Nostrils flaring and his right hoof scratching at the floor, Cernunnos’ eyes narrowed on Ares. “I’m going to kill you with my bare hands.”
“Bring it,” Ares dared. “Let’s see what’cha got.” His heart raced with the thrill of Battle as his brawny body broke out in a light glistening sweat. From behind him came a familiar sound, one that made Ares smile wider and one that made Cernunnos scowl further. It was the sound of breaking glass. Alena reached the bottles; she was freeing the souls trapped within them as quickly as she could. Small balls of light floated everywhere. “Ooops.”
That bit of mocking enraged Cernunnos to the point where he could no longer see straight. His objective became not Ares but the bitch behind him. He had to get to her before she could destroy every last one of them. His hoof scratched at the ground again as he settled back on his haunches and made ready to pounce. As the God of War waited for the coming attack, he realized at the last second he misgauged Cernunnos’ target. Like the Great Stag of the Forest he was, Cernunnos leapt high over Ares’ head and well past the God of War to land in front of Alena. No thought or hesitation, he turned around and kicked out backward with one strong hoof connecting with the space between her breasts, sending her flying backward halfway across the room. Landing on the cold floor, after taking the force of the brutal heart-kick, Alena slid a few more feet before she came to a silent rest near the burning tables. She lay there motionless; Ares wasn’t even sure she was breathing.
From the Novel The Child of War-A God is Born:Eyes sparkling with knowing, Raven leaned forward. “You brought them here, the Fae, the Nymph, the Graces and Muses. All of those beautiful creatures, you brought them here as slaves to serve your…every whim. Ohhh and they did,” he whispered darkly.
Ares let out a long breath; it seemed Raven’s mind had been working overtime and getting straight A’s. “The Olympians don’t speak of this, do you understand me? No matter what thoughts Apollo has put in your head. We will speak of this now and if you have questions in the future, you will come to me privately and we will talk. But you are never to talk about this to anyone else, least of all your mother.”
“Or what?” Raven clearly saw why Ares wouldn’t want Alena to know the sordid details and he weighed the pros and cons of doing just that.
“Or someone will have to kill you,” Ares returned seriously as he looked the unruly boy dead in the eye. “Everything we are about to discuss happened a thousand years before even Zeus was born. It is a dark time in our history and it is the most important secret you will ever keep. Once I have explained everything to you, you will stop treating your mother—and the women—so poorly.”
From the Novel The Child of War-Rising Son:Raven sat there staring up at her, openly undressing the Lady of Love with his eyes and thinking over her proposal. “Will you?”
“Oh yes, yes, I will.” Aphrodite ran her fingers through his long hair from the top of his head to his shoulder blades. She turned her sapphire eyes to Ares at the head of the head of the table, they sparkled with devilish delight. “What about you Ares? In need of a little special attention by now, aren’t you?”
“Not from you, not in this lifetime,” he returned coolly. The only good thing, if one could call it that, about Alena being in a coma the last three years was that Ares didn’t get her pregnant and therefore he didn’t have to return to Aphrodite’s bed since the night of Alena’s fall.
“Is someone else taking care of your hot salty needs these days?” Aphrodite’s eyebrows rose as she looked past Ares to Onya. “You perhaps? You always were his favorite little whore. Tell me, how often do they have you sweaty and breathless between them? Ares and Eros, I mean or are you just,” she stuck her tongue into the side of her cheek and made a crude pumping motion with her hands, “for him behind my Son’s back?”
“Stop being so crude,” Ares huffed.
“What? You are still the Lord of this dreary manor, aren’t you? The last time I checked she was still your woman, your slave, even if she is fucking Eros, she’s still yours. Or have you completely lost your balls, Ares? Have they dried up and blown away with the wind?” The Lady of Love began to titter and then to cackle.
“My balls will never again be a concern of yours.”
From the Novella Women of War:Every night as he headed off to his bedroom Marteen had Maggie make him a strong pot of tea. Every night she brought it to him along with a fine porcelain cup, and a bottle of whiskey to help him sleep soundly. After all, why he should be afraid that she would escape? With the front door tightly locked and the key around his neck there was no chance of that. He didn’t even suspect she knew about the tunnel in the root cellar.
Marteen didn’t suspect the heavy dose of Hemlock she grated into his tea and then let steep a good long time before bringing it to him. When he began puking on himself and sweating like a pig a few moments later, he called out for her. Being the dutiful Wife of a God, Maggie came to him, she sympathized with him, helped him into his bed, and sat with him until he slipped into a coma. Certain he would not wake and that most of the other Druids were in their beds, Maggie grabbed her father’s ring and a cloth sack. She filled it with food, and ran for her life with no thought as to where she was going or how she would get there. Maggie only knew that, as much as her heart cried out for it, she couldn’t go home to the Golden Lands and put the entire village in danger. Surely when Cernunnos found her gone, the Golden Lands would be the first place he would search. If he didn’t find her, if they honestly didn’t know anything about her escape, then he would have no choice but to leave them in peace.
Or she hoped.
Emerging from the tunnel five hundred yards past the keep and just at the tree line to the woods, she looked up at the night sky where a bright red star caught her eye. She recognized it as Mars, the planet named for the Roman God of War. Maggie focused on it, drawing strength and determination from it, hoping that the old God would lend his favor to her for one night. Faster than the wind, she ran toward it, pretending she was climbing some magickal staircase to the stars. The Mars twinkled, as though it was winking at her, acknowledging her, making her run faster. The faster she ran the brighter it glowed. She didn’t stop running nor did she take her eyes off the twinkling red glow until well past dawn when its light was visible to her even the growing light of day.
By the time she fell to the ground from hunger and exhaustion the golden belt sliced deep into the soft flesh of her inner thighs and hips. The wounds were gaping and jagged as flaps of skin stuck to the gold while her blood drying upon it stained it a dark crimson. Finding shelter beneath a large willow tree she dared to eat a large hunk of soda bread she’d stolen from Marteen’s kitchen. The nourishment slowly brought her heart rate to a normal pace as she looked around, noticing a small village some distance below her. The village was a harbor and there was a three-masted sailboat sitting there. Maggie didn’t know where it was going and she didn’t care. All she knew was that she was going to be on it. Once she was, when the boat left the dock and it was out on the big blue sea, she’d be safe from Cernunnos. She’d sail off to some place where they never heard of Feys and she would start a new life.
