All Hobbits Share a Love of Things That Grow
The plants are looking pretty sharp out there. Today is nicely overcast and we may even get a thunderstorm or two later. So, while there wasn’t any sun I got outside to take a few pics. Of course my crew followed me everywhere.
Everybody say ‘hi’ to Missy, Mongo, and Charlie🙂
My cucumbers are going crazy!
I wasn’t sure they’d do very well in those small pots but I managed to train them to grow around the rails of the deck for support and they’re just lovin’ it.
Peppers are doing well too
Tomatoes haven’t gotten as big as I would like but, like most of the other plants, they’re only a month old today and there’s still a month and half (or so) left in our growing season so I guess they’re doing ok.
My strange strawberry plant. It’s very large. It hasn’t put off a single flower. I don’t know why.😦
But Rosie’s having a grand time, she looks very healthy and happy
My two surprises are also doing well. I had no hope for these two wintering over and they were at death’s door when I put them outside a few weeks ago but they’re busting out all over the place now.
Dollar Specials are happy too
There may be hope for at least one the rose bushes but I guess we won’t know for sure until next spring.
C’mon, little one, you can do it!
Let’s go around to the front of the house. Those ‘red, white, and blue’ pots are doing well although I thought for a while I was losing one of them it sprang back nicely.
The boat is going gangbusters! I never thought THAT many pumpkin plants would spring up from the rotted pumpkin I just tossed in there last fall but it seems we may have our own homegrown Jack-O-Lanters this year!
I’m trying to train them to grow over the sides of the boat but their leaves are so big they’re shading out everything else. Thankfully those plants don’t seem to mind too much.
Basil & Sage
Yes, under that big pumpkin leaf is a Calla Lilly🙂
In spite of the lack of rain, we’re having a good season. I hope it continues on this way through the next few months.
